Privacy policy
Tray Sort is made by LeeMark Labs Ltd, a company registered in Scotland (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the game and for this policy. It covers the Android version (from Google Play) and the iPhone version (from the App Store).
The short version
- No advertising, no accounts, and no analytics or tracking code in the game.
- We have no servers. Your progress is stored on your phone, and we can't see it.
- We never receive your name, email, location, contacts, photos or payment details from the game.
- The only information we get is the statistics and crash reports that Google and Apple give every app developer, plus your email if you write to us.
At a glance
| Information | Where it goes | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Game progress, stars, streak, settings, language | Stored on your phone only (and in your phone's own backup, if on) | Only you. Not us. |
| “Unlock extras” purchase | Handled by Google Play or the App Store | Google or Apple. We get an order record, never your payment details. |
| Downloads, usage and crash statistics | Collected by Google or Apple under their policies | Us, as totals or technical reports that don't identify you |
| Emails you send us | Our email inbox | Us |
On the stores' privacy labels this is shown as “No data collected” (Google Play Data safety) and “Data Not Collected” (App Store App Privacy): the game itself doesn't send any information to us or to anyone else.
Your game data
Your level progress, stars, streak, purchases owned, chosen theme, button style, sound and language settings are saved in the game's private storage on your phone. The game doesn't upload them anywhere.
- Android: if Android backup is switched on (Settings › Google › Backup, or your phone's equivalent), Android includes this data in your Google backup, under Google's terms. It can then come back when you reinstall the game or set up a new phone.
- iPhone: this data is included in your iCloud Backup or computer backup if you use one, under Apple's terms, in the same way.
If you don't use backups, deleting the game deletes this data. To remove it from a backup, delete the game and then remove or refresh the backup in your phone's settings.
Permissions
- Android: the game asks for no permissions you have to approve. The Google Play Billing library adds internet and network-state access, which is used only to talk to Google Play about the purchase.
- iPhone: the game asks for no permissions and never shows the “Allow tracking” prompt, because it doesn't track you.
The game doesn't use your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, advertising ID or any identifier for tracking.
In-app purchase
The optional “Unlock extras” purchase is processed entirely by Google Play (Android) or the Apple App Store (iPhone), under their own terms and privacy policies. When you buy or restore, the game asks the store on your phone whether you own the unlock, and remembers the answer on your phone. It doesn't send anything to us.
Google and Apple give us sales records so we can see how the game is doing and handle refunds. These include things like the order number, date, country, product and price. We never receive your card or bank details, and we don't use these records to identify or contact you.
Statistics and crash reports from Google and Apple
Google (Play Console) and Apple (App Store Connect) collect statistics about the game themselves and show them to us. We use them to understand how many people download and keep playing, to find and fix crashes, and to see how the purchase is doing. They include:
- Store activity: store page views, downloads, uninstalls and sales, as totals by day and country.
- Usage: for example sessions, active devices, and how many players return after 1, 7 or 28 days.
- Crashes and performance: crash reports and responsiveness data. A report contains technical details such as the phone model, system version, app version and where in the game's code the problem happened.
Usage and crash data come only from people who allow sharing in their phone settings: on iPhone, Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers; on Android, your usage and diagnostics setting. You can turn this off at any time and the game works exactly the same. What we see is aggregated or technical: it doesn't tell us who you are, and we don't try to find out. We don't sell it, share it or use it for advertising.
Ratings
After you've won a number of levels, the game may ask the store to show its rating prompt, once. The prompt is Google's or Apple's own, and any rating or review you leave is handled by them and shown publicly under their terms.
If you email us
If you contact us at hello@leemarklabs.com, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and help you, and we delete it when it's no longer needed for that or for our business records. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.
Children
Tray Sort isn't directed at children under 13. It doesn't ask anyone, of any age, for personal information, and it has no ads, chat or links to social media.
Where information is processed
Google and Apple may process the statistics and purchase records described above outside the UK, with the safeguards described in their privacy policies. Our email is handled by our email provider.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Because the game never sends us information that identifies you, we usually have nothing to look up, except emails you've sent us. For the statistics and purchase records, Google and Apple are the ones who hold them: see Google's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.
To use your rights or ask anything about privacy, email hello@leemarklabs.com. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
If the game starts handling information differently, we'll update this page and the date at the top before that version of the game is released.
